As the Northeast is getting ready for another snowstorm business is going on as usual in the rest of the country, for the most part. It is no question that big storm seasons do hurt business, from Mom and Pop corner stores to bigger retailers like Target, they are all feeling an impact from this seasons continuous snowfall. It might be surprising to most to find that Mom and Pop shops might be fairing a little bit better than the big box stores.
Why? Well the answer is easy, people are staying close to home in the weather, they are grabbing the essentials; milk, eggs, water, bread. Not wasting time shopping around for a new bathing suit or television at the moment. It is safe to say if you sell anything snow-weather related, think shovels and salt, your business is doing just fine. While other stores, department and small, that do not cater to these weather conditions are definitely feeling a dip in their sales.
